Local government resolution

Please subsidize medical expenses for patients with cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Medical expenses subsidy for hepatitis B interferon treatment for the purpose of virus removal began as a special promotion program at April 2008 (Nucleic acid analog treatment for hepatitis B was from April 2010).

But due to limitation to specific medical treatment, a significant number of patients are not eligible for medical expenses. In particular, patients with cirrhosis and liver cancer must spend expensive medical costs, and many are unable to work and have difficulties to their lives.
In addition, when the Special Measures Law concerning the payment of benefits for persons with specific hepatitis B virus infections was enacted, an incidental resolution was made that "investigation should be continued how to support life including medical expenses subsidies especially for patients with cirrhosis and liver cancer".
However, the national government has not taken any specific measure for living support including subsidy for medical expenses of patients with cirrhosis and liver cancer.

More than 120 people die of cirrhosis / liver cancer every day, and the implementation of living support including subsidy for medical expenses is an issue with no time delay.

Local governments that are closer to the patients and understand the suffering of the patients have adopted and submitted position documents to the country requesting medical expenses for patients with cirrhosis and liver cancer.
In order to make a louder voice, we are petitioning to the local councils for cirrhosis and liver cancer issues together with the Japan Liver Disease Patient Group Council and the National Plaintiffs and Defense Corps for Phytotoxic Hepatitis.
